Lancers Need Little Luck Against La Salle

LA PUENTE – Sporting their St. Patrick’s Day green jerseys, the Bishop Amat Lancers boys baseball team continued their winning ways by defeating the La Salle Lancers in their first home game of the season.

In the top of the first inning, Amat pitcher Brandon McNitt shut down La Salle. In the bottom of the first, the Amat Lancers went to work offensively. Centerfielder Jay Anderson started things off with a triple and the next batter left fielder Joseph Eusebio doubled him home for the first run of the game. After a wild pitch advanced Eusebio to third, he scored on catcher Jerry McClanahan’s grounder to the second baseman.

The Lancers continued to score, while McNitt pitched a solid six innings. Amat went on to win the game by the final count of 8-2.

Bishop Amat plays Chatsworth at 6 p.m. on Thursday at USC.’s Deadeux Field.
