Girls Beach Volleyball team was defeated in the first round of CIF playoffs on April 18 versus the Campbell Hall Vikings. The Lancers were led by seniors Emmi Scelzo and Sophia Blanco. With both of them being outstanding hitters they also show leadership on the sand.

Bishop Amat Lancers and Campbell Hall Vikings played a fierce beach volleyball match that included intense rallies and a strong sense of competition.

Both teams’ skillful hits and well-timed placements were noteworthy plays. The taller players from Campbell Hall presented challenges at the net and used their height advantage to control important games in spite of the Lancers’ best efforts.

The Campbell Hall Vikings took advantage of their size  by controlling key points in the game with excellent blocking. Their teamwork and use of height allowed them to secure points that affected the game’s outcome.

Throughout the game, the Bishop Amat Lancers, led by seniors Emmi Scelzo and Sophia Blanco, demonstrated leadership. Even though their team was losing they still managed to stay positive through it all.

Renowned for their hitting combinations, Scelzo and Blanco provided a solid offensive foundation for the Lancers and showed heart in the face of bigger opponents.

The Vikings’ strength at the net, however, presented difficulties for the Lancers’ defense.

“That game was a hard game but I am so happy I got to play with such amazing girls,” Scelzo said. “Despite our best efforts, they were able to take advantage of their advantages today.”

Both teams had good sportsmanship and competitive spirit, acknowledging the talent displayed by every single one of the players on the sand.

“Although losing is disappointing, we can learn from the experience and be thankful that we had one last opportunity to work as a team in the sand,” said Blanco.

Even though the Bishop Amat Lancers lost their most recent beach volleyball match against Campbell Hall, the game was still very important for the team’s season.

The Lady Lancers won a crucial wild card game in Pismo Beach, Calif, against SLOCA, winning 4-1 to guarantee a postseason berth. This victory came just before the encounter.

This journey illustrates the team’s determination, showing their ability to overcome obstacles while accomplishing significant wins. The Lancers’ playoff berth highlights their development and competitive spirit throughout the season, regardless of the loss to Campbell Hall.

Thinking back on this big moment in the season, it’s clear that the Lancers’ beach volleyball journey has been filled with both victories and setbacks, which have shaped them into a strong and driven squad as their season comes to an end.
