Boys’ Soccer falls late to Salesian

Bishop Amat’s Boys’ Soccer hosted Salesian in a league contest Friday falling 5-3, despite goals from junior Edgar Figueroa and two from junior Havier Zaragoza.

Figueroa scored in the seventh minute to give the Lancers a early lead. However, Salesian took the lead on a pair of goals in the seventh and 32nd minute.

In injury time, Zaragoza scored off an assist from Figueroa to tie the game up heading into halftime.

In the 45th minute, Zaragoza scored again to give the Lancers a 3-2 lead.

Yellow cards and injuries plagued both teams. Zaragoza, junior Diego Payan and sophomore Ernie Maldonado earned yellow cards for Amat.

At the end of full time, the refs awarded 18 minutes of injury time. In those 18 minutes, Salesian scored three goals to finish the game with a 5-3 win.

The Lancers drop to 2-4 in league and 5-13 overall.

Amat will host Cathedral next on Friday, February 3 on Senior Night.
