Early in the first quarter, sophomore quarterback Blake Archuleta injured his non-throwing shoulder. Senior Jacob Amaro came in relief and dominated Crespi’s defense with his legs.

Bishop Amat won 38-17 on Friday night in Encino.

Amaro threw for one touchdown and ran for two others and led an offense that totaled more than 400 yards en route to Bishop Amat’s second league victory.

The offensive line dominated the line of scrimmage as the Lancers rushed for 333 yards, while Amat’s defense had another dominating performance as Crespi did not score a touchdown till the fourth quarter.

Several transfers also became eligible and two of them—wide receiver Koby Duru and tight end Louis St. Pierre—played major roles Friday night.

The Lancers are now 5-2 overall and 2-1 in league play. They take on Serra next Friday at Kieffer Stadium.
