Lancers inexperience shows in home opener

The Bishop Amat football team struggled Friday night turning the ball over several times and suffering from too many drive-killing mishandled snaps, which resulted in an embarrassing 63-14 loss to rival Mater Dei.

Bishop Amat, which lost several key players last season, looked overwhelmed from the first play falling behind 21-0 before sophomore Blake Archuletta, who came in late in the first quarter in relief of senior quarter back Jacob Amaro, led the Lancers to their only first half score.

Archuleta threw for 90 yards and 1 touchdown.

Bishop Amat faces Servite on Friday at Cerritos College.
