About 20 Bishop Amat Lancers volunteered at St. John Vianney to help feed the homeless on Tuesday, January 26.

Monsignor Carroll thanked all the Amat Lancers that were there that night and then started the dinner off with a prayer.

Students who volunteered said they had a good experience and urged others to come next year.

“I encourage people to come here not just to help the homeless, but to show that you are willing to help people and not be selfish,” sophomore Joey Canales said.

For many students, that Tuesday was not the first time they have volunteered at the shelter.

“I have been here before and I really enjoyed it so that is why I wanted to come back because these people are really cool and really funny,” junior Jevan Coronado said. “I like helping out the less fortunate.”

Students expressed that it is not only the homeless people that are happy but they feel good because they helped the homeless and made an impact on their lives.

“The students at Amat are giving them a [good] dinner tonight and it is an honor to help people who are in need,” freshman Favian Veliz said.
