Seniors take advantage of a day off by visiting colleges

Ian Johnson, Staff Writer

Bishop Amat seniors had the day off last Wednesday in order to visit colleges and learn more about the schools they might be attending next fall.

Many students visited prestigious schools in California including UC Irvine, UC Riverside, Cal State LA, and more.

Rikiana Denning visited UC Irvine.

“I really liked it,” she said “I liked the big park that was in the middle of it. That was pretty cool.”

Jacob Ortiz also visited UC Irvine and shared what he thought.

“I really did enjoy it,”he said “I am really considering that college.”

The seniors also gave advice to juniors and sophomores for when the time comes to visit colleges their senior year.

“Let’s say, for example, you can’t visit a college, at least get started on some college applications.” he said.

Nathan Garcia visited Harvey Mudd college. He also gave advice to future seniors.

“You really have to take advantage because next thing you know, college apps are going to be due” he said.

Iesha Magallanes advised to take advantage of the day despite the temptation to sleep in

“Actually taking advantage of the day is really helpful because you are given insight into basically your future.” she said.

Those who missed the visits will still have the chance to visit colleges that come to Amat. More information can be found outside the counselor’s office.
