LA PUENTE – Both the Bishop Amat  and La Salle softball teams put runners aboard in their league matchup Thursday, but it was Lady Lancers that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 4-0 win.

La Salle had eight hits compared with Bishop Amat Lancers Varsity’s six, but La Salle stranded 10 runners on base.

It was a good day at the plate for Bishop Amat’s Eryn Sustayta. Sustayta went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. She singled in the first inning and doubled in the third inning.

Bishop Amat pitcher Alexis Vargas kept La Salle off the scoreboard for all seven innings she was on the rubber. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on eight hits while ringing up four.

La Salle’s Vanessa Dwyer was charged with the loss. She lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed four runs.

Alyssa Barrera doubled to begin the bottom half of the first inning and later scored on a La Salle error. This turned out to be all the Lancers needed.
