First-year varsity volleyball player Courtney Eiley said the team has a simple goal this season.
“We want to get a banner up in that gym,” she said. “There are no volleyball banners in the gym and we need to get one pronto.”
Entering his second season as coach, Richard Huynn said he has seen his team progress so far, and they will look to improve on their 2010 record of 11-10.
“I like how we’ve progressed,” he said. “We’ve beaten a couple teams that have gone to CIF, and those have been good confidence boosters for us.”
The Lady Lancers return starters Amanda Stone, Rachel Seals, Megan Bowcock, Leilani Hobayan and Michelle Combes and welcome newcomers Eiley, Josilyn Ruiz and Elizabeth Hopstock.
“We’re going to be successful because our team is the definition of variety,” sophomore Eiley said. “We have so many different people and age groups on the team.”
Coach Huynn said the players are pretty equal.
“As a team, they’re pretty good. There’s not one person that is better than another,” he said.
The confidence level is high on the volleyball court this year for Coach Huynn.
“I think we’re going to do good things this year if they stick to the system and program,” he said.
