Lady Lancers outshoot the Stars

The Bishop Amat Lancers defeated Mary Star of the Sea on Tuesday at home, winning with a big victory of 84-18.

Senior guard Kalani Aplido finished the game with 5 threes in her career-high 25-point game.

Senior Adrianna Torres finished with 8 assists and 8 steals. She led the team in scoring with 26 points, staying consistent even after hitting the 1,000-point mark.

Torres’s 4 threes were a big contributor to this game just as much as Senior Kalani Aplido who finished the game with 5 threes out of her 25 total. Torres was extremely tired after the game however she was glad she had the opportunity to move the ball enough for everyone to score.

“I enjoyed playing against Mary Star of the Sea because I could have had more points but I decided to be a better point guard and a better team player,” Torres said. “In doing so I moved the ball around and made sure everyone got buckets.”

Tuesday night’s game wasn’t just about the stars. Freshman Mia Stewart had 20 points in her debut. ,

The Lady Lancers finished with a season high of 84 points.

Next Tuesday, Bishop Amat goes head to head with rival Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary. Whoever wins will be crowned league champion.
