Amat’s Fall 2023 College Commits

Four seniors preparing to officially sign to their committed colleges.

Four Bishop Amat seniors signed their letters of intent to play their sports and further their athletic and academic careers at Division 1 colleges Wednesday.

Sophia Pinedo signed with the University of San Diego. Amelia Dominguez and Isaiah Hernandez signed with UC Riverside, and Juan Martinez signed with University of the Pacific.

On signing day each commit would come up to the podium and share a few kind words and who they would thank for their opportunity and what their achievement means to them.

They all signed their letters of intent to commit at a table centered in the gym.

All parents and coaches watched their athletes sign their well-earned letters in unison after they shared their thanks.

Sophia Pinedo plays softball here at Bishop Amat and shared some words about her commitment to the University of San Diego.

“Signing day is a really big accomplishment for me,” Said Sophia. “It represents all the hard work that I put in and also my family, and all the sacrifices that got me here.”

Amelia Dominguez is a soccer player here at Amat, and has committed to UC Riverside.

“The signing day means quite a lot because I’ve worked so hard my entire life, my family has worked their entire life, my friends and everyone has been supporting me since day 1,” said Amelia. “This is a big day for me and I’m gonna tear up the big one for sure.”

Isaiah Hernandez is a baseball player here at Amat and has committed to UC Riverside as well.

“It means a lot. My family, my friends, my coaches. Everybody plays a crucial role in helping me get this far to be at this point where I am right now.” expressed Isaiah. “When I think about it, I think of it as God’s plan.”

Our last commit, Juan Martinez, has just signed his letter of intent to play soccer at the University of the Pacific.

“It’s a new chapter in my life for me and my family; I’m gonna be away for a little bit but that’s not gonna change how connected we are,” stated Juan. “I just want to thank my family for how much they supported me throughout my whole career.

The next signing day for Amat athletes is spring 2024.

We wish all these athletes the best in their College careers.
