Robert Pattinson doesn’t bite anyone in his latest movie “Remember Me.”
The film tells the story of an alone and brooding 22-year-old guy, who seems to be at conflict with the whole world. “Remember Me” also stars Pierce Brosnan (James Bond) and Emilie de Ravin (Lost) and is directed by Allen Coulter based on a script by Will Fetters.
The movie contains great performances within an enchanting and touching story.
In the film, Tyler Hawking (Pattinson), a problematic NYU student who lives in an unkempt Manhattan apartment despite coming from a prosperous home. He is dealing with the death of his older brother, who committed suicide six years previous. When he meets the focused and determined Ally Craig (de Ravin), a fellow classmate who saw her mother shot by a robber when she was 11, he finds a soul mate. The two both have family matters to put up with, but have each other there through it all. She has her overprotective cop father (Chris Cooper), while he has his emotionally estranged lawyer father (Brosnan). Originally, Tyler had dated Ally on a mean-spirited dare from an obnoxious roommate, which messes up things when he truly falls for her.
The romance between the characters of Pattinson and de Ravin has been depicted so real that it is really moving. It’s a lot more genuine than those romantic movies such as “The Notebook” and “Dear John.” Same can be said about the relationship between Tyler and on-screen Charles (Brosnan), which has again been amazingly presented. The “Bond” star Brosnan played the rather emotionally reserved father perfectly.
By the climax of the film, a lot of family relationships are being patched up, and the two lovers have started to mend the conflict between them. The interest of the movie is kept alive till the end with a very out of the ordinary, kind of appalling and unexpected ending of the movie.
I will not spoil the ending, but it’s a shocking one.
The movie is definitely one to watch. I did not know what to expect in this very different genre of movie. In this movie, Robert Pattinson proves that he can act very well, and is truly something more than just the “Twilight” star. Although this is not your average romance movie where in the end everything gets all good, I was not disappointed. “Remember Me” is very heartbreaking movie and a real tearjerker.
