PASADENA – Sheldon Price, Bishop Amat graduate and freshman at UCLA, started his first career collegiate game on Saturday at the Rose Bowl.
Price, who graduated last year, got the chance after cornerbacks Aaron Hester went down with an injury and Courtney Viney was suspended for this week’s game.
Price stated in an interview with the LA Times, that he was a little nervous as he trotted out for warm-ups.
Price handled his nerves very well though, knowing that he would be picked on early by the opposing Kansas State offense, he managed to play his defense that got him to UCLA in the first place.
Price had 5 tackles in all, 4 of them being solo. He also came very close to his first interception but the ball was just beyond the reach of his outstretched arms.
Coach Rick Neuheisel also thought that Price did well in his first start.
“I didn’t feel the game was too big for him,” Coach Rick Neuheisel said in the article. “Kansas State did cherry pick in front of him. He went up and made tackles and didn’t hurt us.”
