The Clippers are looking strong coming into this season after being knocked out of the playoffs in the first round last season.
The young team has only become more experienced and have even made a big move during the off-season by acquiring former Boston Celtics Coach Doc Rivers.
Many believe that the Clippers were lacking experience and leadership last season and Rivers solves both of those problems.
“Doc is going to give the Clippers what they need to be contenders,” said Nicole Perez. “He is a respected coach and he knows how to win. The players have to respect and listen to him. He will help the team chemistry.”
Team Chemistry was another concern for the Clippers last season. There were multiple reports that Forward Blake Griffin and Center DeAndre Jordan were having personal problems with Point Guard Chris Paul, the franchise player whom they resigned during the offseason. Players usually respond better to respected coaches like Rivers and hopefully for the Clippers, he can defuse the conflict between the teammates.
After the Clippers were able to get a new coach and resign their franchise player they began adding to the already impressive roster.
“I like that the Clippers traded Eric Bledsoe for J.J. Redick and Jared Dudley, “ said Senior Eric Almeida. “Chris Paul needs more people to pass to on the wings and I think that they are going to help the team even though the defense might be a little worse.”
The Clippers were also able to sign David Collisions for a very cheap price and resigned Matt Barnes and Ryan Hollins. There were some losses however, Grant Hill retired, Caron Butler was traded, Lamar Odom is a free agent but will most likely not play in the NBA this season due to his drug related issues and Chauncey Billups left for the Detroit Pistons.
“I think that the Clippers could go to the playoffs,” said Senior Kenneth Tarango. “They have all the necessary pieces to do it.”
The Clippers have definitely improved since last season and are most likely going to once again be the superior team in Los Angeles.
