People began to gather around in the lunch area, as they listened to the music playing, and watched several of the dance team members ask their dates to Sadie’s. It was an exciting thing to see as the boys walked up and their faces turned red when they realized they were the ones being asked.
The Sadie Hawkins’s dance is the girls turn to ask the boys with their creative ideas, then have a great night at Knott’s with their date.
This year, Bishop Amat’s Sadies was held at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park.
The dance was a huge hit. Leading up to the event, many girls came up with creative ideas to ask their date to the dance.
“I put a bunch of sticky notes on top of my dates car and they spelled out SADIE’S,” junior Rachel Shapiro said.
There were also some ideas that involved a little bit of work on the guy’s part.
“I asked my date by setting up a scavenger hunt, which he loved,” senior Anyssa Rodarte said.
Some of the teachers were even involved in this fun time.
“I gave the ending puzzle piece to one of my students, and he put them together to spell SADIE’S,” said Mrs. Moak
All the asking was soon finished, and March first had come.
The weather forecast made many students hesitant, but there was still a great show up. It rained when the students were showing up, so those with umbrellas were thankful to have them.
However, the rest of the night was on and off light rain and the students managed to make the best of it.
The Log Ride, Wipeout, Boomerang, Xcelerator and Supreme Scream were the only rides open but students had a lot of fun going on them repeatedly.
Xcelerator was working for the last half of the night, but the students were thankful it was working at all because it is a fan favorite.
“I was one of the few people to get stuck on Xcelerator the first time it ran during Sadie’s,” said sophomore Isabel Mayo.
In the same area as the rides was the Boardwalk, where the students could go inside, dry off, eat some snacks, and dance to the great music the DJ played.
“Students danced more than in years past,” said Ms. Christina Stawicki, the freshmen class moderator who helped planned the dance. “They got to enjoy all the rides in our area without having to wait in long lines.”
Inside, there was also an area for the couples to take pictures to remember their fun night at Knott’s.
“I had so much fun and I cannot wait to go back next year,” said sophomore Gigi Munoz.
Everyone came back to school Monday still excited about their great time at Sadie’s.
