Tonight the Bishop Amat Lancers play in a must-win game for the Loyola Cubs , who would most likely be eliminated from the playoffs with a loss.
“Although, playing Loyola is a big rivalry, it is tradition, and their only chance at playoffs is to beat us,” said Lancers Coach Steve Hagerty.
The game will be start at 7 p.m. at Los Angeles Valley College in Valley Glen.
A lot of the coaches said they are happy and proud about last Friday’s 24-21 win over the Crespi Celts, added they still have to keep focused for their game against Loyola.
“I feel ecstatic and like seeing the team win,” Coach Hagerty said about last week’s victory.
The Lancers are 1-1 in league, while the Cubs are 0-2.
Bishop Amat coaches said the team might have a good record, but need to make some improvements if they wish to win this week.
“For this week’s game we need more crisp on execution and up the tempo, but there is always room for improvement,” said Coach Ealar Gallaghar.
The Bishop Amat coaches said they feel that Loyola is going to be a tough team to beat. Some coaches said that the Cubs are a very solid team and their defensive tackles average about 6 foot four inches and about 260 pounds, which makes them dangerous.
“Loyola has a tough defense, plays well and are big up front,” said Coach Sean Koelle. “We just have to move the chains and continue to strive for our goals which are playoffs.”
