LOS ANGELES- With four touchdowns by running back Jalen Moore, the Lancers defeated the Loyola Cubs 41-31, to remain unbeaten on the season.
The Lancers were led by junior running back Jalen Moore who once again rushed for nearly 300-yards and scored four touchdowns leading the Lancers offense. The Cubs’ offense was led by their senior running back Jared Baker, who tore up the Lancer defense to almost lead a comeback.
Moore put the first points of the game up when he rushed 17-yards for a touchdown putting the Lancers up 7-0.
Junior quarter back Rio Ruiz then threw a 15-yard pass to senior fullback Zechariah Rodriguez for the Lancers second touchdown.
The Lancers continued to pour on the points when Moore plunged into the end zone for a 1-yard touchdown, taking the score to 21-0.
The Cubs were finally on the board when Baker broke off for a 60-yard touchdown run making the score 21-7.
Ruiz then connected with senior wide receiver Wallace Gonzalez for a 30-yard touchdown and his second touchdown of the game.
The Cubs then made a 31-yard field goal before the half moving the score to 28-10, Lancers.
In the second half the Cubs came out firing scoring points quickly and dominantly.
The third quarter began with a 63-yard touchdown run by Baker, his second touchdown of the night.
The Lancers answered back with Moore’s third touchdown of the game, this one coming off a 1-yard plunge giving the Lancers a 35-17 lead.
However, the Cubs did not back down and scored on a 10-yard quarterback keeper by third string quarterback Nicholas Cotton.
Moore was not finished and scored when the Lancers blocked a punt and he took it back for an 18-yard touchdown.
The Cubs scored once more, but it was too late as the Lancers won the game, 41-31.
The Serra League continues this Friday as the Lancers take on the Notre Dame Knights at Kiefer Stadium.
