Bishop Amat is Eliminated by No. 1 Mater Dei with a Final Score of 63-23.

Bishop Amat came into the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs as the ultimate underdog against No. 1 Mater Dei with a ton of momentum after a 9-1 regular season and another undefeated league title, but came up short with a final score of 63-23.

Alabama-commit Bryce Young put on a clinic against Bishop Amat defense completing 28 of 39 passes for 391 yards and 7 touchdowns, 5 of those to Kody Epps who broke the school record for most touchdowns in a single season with 23.

With Damien Moore not suited up for the game for an ankle injury, Junior Dyson McCutcheon stepped up to start and put on a show with 253 total yards and three touchdowns. “He played with a lot of guts, a lot of courage,” Bishop Amat coach Steve Hagerty said of McCutcheon. “We knew what we were up against.”

Mater Dei will end up playing Mission Viejo this Friday in the semi-finals. As for Bishop Amat, they end their season knowing that they accomplished many of their goals this year and they hope to accomplish more next season.
