Bishop Amat beats Loyola 38-10 to end the regular season

With Damien Moore out in the first quarter, the Lancers stepped up their game last Friday night against Loyola.

Dyson McCutcheon and Tobin O’Dell came to help the Lancers defeat the Loyola Cubs 38-10 on Friday night at Kiefer Stadium.

Bishop Amat’s 9-1 record matches the best record in the coach Hagerty era.

This was the biggest margin of victory this season for the Lancers, but they did have some ups and downs.

Cal-commit Moore left the game early in the first quarter due to an ankle injury but appeared okay on the sidelines with trainers.

With Moore out the rest of the game, Coach Hagerty brought in McCutcheon, who had another career game as he rushed for 127 yards and three touchdowns. James Henriquez also came in to play and scored a 22-yard touchdown to extend the lead.

O’Dell, the sophomore quarterback for the Lancers, showed veteran traits as he threw for 125 yards and a touchdown. Aidan Sanchez came into the game in the second half to seal the deal against Loyola with a final score of 38-10.

With this win, Bishop Amat will be seeded in the 8th and final spot in the Division I bracket. The CIF-SS Playoffs will begin this Friday for the rest of the divisions but the Lancers will get an extra week to prepare for the first round against the No. 1 team in the nation, Mater Dei.

Other teams included in the Division I bracket are St. John Bosco, Centennial (Corona), Mission Viejo, Servite, JSerra, and Calabasas. The Lancers hope to continue their winning streak next Friday, November 15 at the Santa Ana Bowl.
