CIF Playoffs – Round 2 – Lancers vs. Aquinas
The Lady Lancers ended the playoffs early in the second round to Aquinas High School on Tuesday with a tight score coming down to the final inning, 3-2.
Lady Lancer, Alysha Baker, led off the inning with an early run, keeping that lead until the third inning. It wasn’t until the bottom of the third inning when the Falcons brought in two runs, one off an error from the Lancers.
Later in the fifth inning, the Falcons scored again, but off a bad pitch by the Lancers pitcher, Sabrina Anguiano, ending in a homerun. But luckily for the Lancers she struck out the next two batters.
Later coming into the top of the seventh inning, the score was 3-1, with the Lancers coming up to bat with a close chance of tying the game.
After two batters, Jackie Carlin came up to bat and hit the ball into the gap in right field allowing runner Alma Cortez to come in for a run, and Carlin gaining a base hit, bringing them closer to a tie.
Next up was Brandy Galaviz who seemed eager for another hit. The Falcons pitcher came up with the pitch, and Galaviz made contact driving the ball easily to right field gaining some distance, but the Falcons right fielder was there for the catch ending the Lancers playoff run with a score of 3-2.
