Thirteen Bishop Amat senior athletes, including seven football players and three baseball players, signed letters of intent to play collegiate sports at various schools across the nation on Friday, April 30.
Davis Cazares will join Darien Johnson with the New Mexico State Aggies next season.
Both of them were key players for the Amat football team and they said they hope they can help New Mexico State immensely in the coming years.
Daniel Kane and Josh Tierney both signed with the University of Redlands.
“I’m ready for college ball,” Tierney said, “I just need to get in the shape that I need to be in and I will be set. Competing at the division level has prepared me for the best and toughest competition, so I don’t fear any opponent.”
Jerry McClanahan, who also played football for Amat, signed a letter of intent to play baseball for the University of California, Irvine.
The number of athletes who signed on Friday tripled the last signing day’s total.
Johnson, softball player Stephanie Beaty, gymnast Hailey Johnson, and soccer player Jasmine Roth were the only students to sign.
