Maldonado leads Lancers’ defensive attack in win against Servite

Junior defensive tackle Aaron Maldonado and the Bishop Amat Lancers showed everyone they are a much better team than what was seen in last week’s loss to Mater Dei, which Coach Steve Hagerty called “humiliating.”

Just seven days after Amat gave up 63 points, the Lancers’ defense allowed  just 10 in their 14-10 victory over Servite at Cerritos College on Friday.

Amat’s offense still struggled, but the special teams came up with a punt return for a touchdown and the Lancers’ defensive line dominated the line of scrimmage.

Sophomore quarterback Blake Archuleta had a solid game in which he went 21-30 for 149 yards and 1 touchdown.

The Lancers take on Junipero Serra on Friday at Kiefer Stadium.
