Students at Bishop Amat High School said they have been tortured by the 100 degree temperatures these past two weeks whenever they step outside their classrooms.
This is due to the boiling heat wave that has hit Southern California which is preventing students to do their daily routines when being in the outdoors.
According to Weather Source.com, the average temperatures have been at a high of 93 degrees.
Students are not too fond of this new heat wave.
“I don’t really like it because it prevents me to do anything. It’s a hassle to walk around campus,” junior Jordan Exum said.
Varsity football players have been practicing in hot temperatures all summer, but they said that this heat is particularly bad.
“I’m used to the heat at football practice because the only place to practice is the field, but this new heat wave makes me exhausted,” junior, and running-back, Anthony Camargo said.
Other students agree with this reaction.
“I hate this heat and I never wants to be outdoors because of it,” senior Quetzal Meraz said.
Teachers also agree with the bad reactions to the heat wave and are just as affected by it as the students.
“This heat wave makes me feel hot all the time and even though I’m indoors, I cringe when the bell rings and I have to walk outside in the heat,” Anatomy and Physiology teacher Ms. Elizabeth Deines said.
Many students have different ways of keeping up with the heat.
“I try to be in air-conditioned rooms all day,” junior Rachel Gautreau said.
Students also have ways of dealing with the heat out of school.
“I tend to take cold showers and go swimming once I get home from school,” junior Sarah Burchardt said.
This week is supposed to see some cooling, but temperatures this weekend will be close to 100 degrees.
