Walt Disney Pictures has done amazing business in princesses and has done it again with the movie, Frozen. A very enchanting but sometimes cheesy story attracts my attention with the adorably and catchy music and Olaf’s humorous and sarcastic character.
Frozen is Disney’s 53rd animated feature and is just squeezably loving. Queen Elsa and Princess Anna seem to be a new addition to the Disney Princesses.
The animated feature is directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee which is based on Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Snow Queen.”
The film stars the voices of Kristen Bell as Princess Anna, Idina Menzel as Queen Elsa, Jonathan Groff as Kristoff, Josh Gad as Olaf , Santino Fontana as Hans , Alan Tudyk as Duke of Weselton and Ciaran Hinds as Pabbie.
Princess Anna sets off on an epic journey, teaming up with mountain man Kristoff and his reindeer Sven to find her sister Queen Elsa. Elsa has icy powers and have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter, which ties into the name of the movie, Frozen. With mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Princess Anna and Kristoff battle obstacles to save the kingdom. From the outside Queen Elsa looks poised and reserved, but in reality, she lives in fear as she wrestles with a secret she was born with the power to create ice and snow. With her magic nearly killing her younger sister, Princess Anna, Queen Elsa isolated herself by spending every waking minute trying to conquer her powers. Her magic accidentally sets off an eternal winter that she can’t stop it. She fears she’s becoming a monster and that no one, not even her sister, can help her.
Songs like “For the First Time in Forever,” “Let It Go,” “In Summer,” and “Fixer Upper”, composed by couple Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez in the movie, brought a splendid tale. “Let It Go” was a dramatic song that referred to Queen Elsa’s changing her perspective on her powers. They were catchy and adorable songs to sing along to. My favorite was the song “Do You Want To Build a Snowman” because the song came with lots of emotion and it was cute all at the same time.
I have to say I was very skeptical about the film because I thought it was another Disney movie at first until everyone said they seen the film more than once because it was that good.
