Last Saturday marked the day of Bishop Amat’s annual Open House.
It was a hectic time as ASB commissioners scrambled to welcome the rush of prospective students arriving.
Visitors were surprised as they walked through the back parking lot and were greeted by music from the band, the cheers from the cheerleaders, and the songs from the choir.
When the visitors made their way to the Student Activity Center, they were seated down in preparation for a series of speeches by the heads of administration.
After, visitors were then grouped into different tours and headed out to several areas of campus while others went on self-guided tours.
Moreover, there was some controversy over the fact that several tours were led by freshmen instead of seniors.
“I would have liked to have more seniors to come out to give a little more of a personal touch of how they experienced Amat,”said ASB President Cameran Wall.
Many parents felt that Bishop Amat was the right fit for their child. Moreover, prospective students felt that Bishop Amat was the right fit for them.
“It’s definitely my first choice. My family came here and so is my brother, Dominic Sanchez. He’s a sophomore,” said eigth-grader Noah Sanchez.
“Amat is my first choice. The teachers sound very nice and the education is very good. I am also interested with the Athletic program especially basketball,” said eighth-grader Matthew.
Participating seniors also felt proud as they showed off their school.
“I’ve been doing Open House for the past three years. Every year I love showing people Amat and how I see Amat. I want people to come to Amat and experience the family environment,” said senior Kathy Lazo.
Overall all, it was a good experience for both current and prospective students.
