Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger are back in the last installment of J.K. Rowling’s billion dollar series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” In this darker arrangement of the film, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is all but ignored, and so is that sense of security that came with this once kids’ film.
But that is not necessarily a bad thing.
Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) start a new journey, alone, without Dumbledore, to try to find and destroy Voldemort’s (Ralph Fiennes) remaining horcruxes (magical objects that contain the Dark Lord’s soul). To ensure their family and friends safety as well as their own, they isolate themselves from the world, moving to different locations every chance they get.
Deathly Hallows opens with the new Minister of Magic, Rufus Scrimgeour (Bill Nighy), announcing to the press that Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters, having killed Dumbledore in the last installment, are planning a big takeover. Lord Voldemort has assembled an army to take over the ministry and to kill “The Boy that Lived,” Harry Potter and anyone that stands in his way.
As far as Hogwarts not being the main setting like the past films, the vast scenery of all the places Harry and his friends travel make up for it big time. It is locations like the dark forest and the great plains that give the movie a sense of suspense and have people wondering what will happen next.
The suspense in “Deathly Hallows” has a big effect on the audience then the past films. Such as the scene when Harry almost drowns trying to recover a magical object, which will help him later in his journey. Or the scene when Voldemort’s Death Eaters brutally interrupt Ron’s brother’s wedding with a violent entrance.
Most fans of the film will be awestruck by how well this movie was made, and even newcomers to the movie will enjoy it just as much. Of course i would not recommend newcomers to watch the film until having seen the others first.
Overall the movie is very well made and a great sight to see. I would definitely recommend this film to everybody. With the Part 2 arrival in July many fans are sure to be eager to see it. It’s been about 10 years since the first Harry Potter movie came out and its definitely not getting old anytime soon, which shows you how dedicated the fans are to the series.
This movie provides people with entertainment of every kind. With the variety of different arrangements, it is definitely a film author, J.K. Rowling, should be proud of.
