I have never been so scared of old women and hankerchiefs in my entire life. If that was what “Drag Me to Hell” was trying to do, it did it very well.
“Drag me to Hell,” written, produced and directed by the acclaimed Sam Raimi, was a downright scary movie. In fact, I’d go as far as to say it was one of the scariest movies I have ever seen.
The first 10 minutes are slow as we meet loan officer Christine and all her drama of trying to get a promotion at her bank. But once Mrs. Ganush enters the movie, the scares and thrills never stop.
Right from the get, the very sight of her leads to you knowing she is bad. Lorna Raver did a spectacular job in the playing the old gypsy woman.
Basically, Mrs. Ganush believes that Christine, played by Alison Lohman, shamed her and therefore she puts a curse on Christine that gives her three days before a evil demon comes to devour her soul.
Lohman does a spectacular job at expressing the terror of the situation. She, alongside costar Justin Long, who plays her boyfriend Clay try to rid the curse.
The movie is very witty, with funny moments that will make you laugh. The movie alternates between scary and funny throughout the movie. There are little things in the movie that must be remembered.
A lot of the things I felt were insignificant, but turn out to be huge at the end of the movie.
The movie also delivers those “GROSS!” moments, which Raimi delivers when the audience least expects it.
The ending is also one of the best endings ever in a movie. I was in shock for about five minutes after. The only words that can be uttered at the end are either “WOW” or “OMG.”
This movie will go down as one of the scariest movies in history.
