Blood, guts, and gore are no more. Insidious:Chapter 2 is a delightful twist on horror stories.
Before even watching the movie, some audience members had high hopes based off the original cast, which would be featured again, by director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell.
Other movie goers speculated a box office flop.
They were surprised however by what Insidious: Chapter 2 had in store.
“I don’t really get scared, so hopefully Insidious 2 scares me,” said senior Jessica Leal.
According to fandango.com, the goal of the movie is “A terrifying sequel to the acclaimed horror film, which follows the haunted Lambert family as they seek to uncover the mysterious childhood secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world.”
With that synopsis in mind and every horror movie fans’ dream is to be scared Amber Lopez commented, “It had a lot more pop ups than the first Insidious. It starts off really fast and was scary in seconds,” said sophomore Lopez.
On a larger scale, those at CinemaScore.com gave Insidious: Chapter 2 an 85% satisfaction rating and a comparison was made,“Those who saw the sequel this weekend assigned it an average grade of B+, while “Insidious” earned a B,” said Amy Kaufman from the LA Times.
While the first movie only produced $13.3 million in the first weekend, the sequel was able to produce $41.1 million in box office revenues in four days, which included private screenings started on Thursday.
The movie lived up to the hype and produced wonderfully scary imagery, that left audience members jumping in their seats.
